Production: The structure of our music video

Here's a video of Tobi giving u an update on how we are going to structure our music video..

Production:Editing

Before our deadline tomorrow we are concentrating on finishing our music video so that we can begin tweaking it in our friday double lesson which is also the deadline.

Here is some feedback from Louisa...

Research On Use Of Colour filters

As we plan to use a range of filters with one being black and white on a particular base track, I done research on other video's to see how they used the range of different colors.

This new video by Nicki Minaj (don't judge me) shows a range of different filters

This video continuously goes back and forth with black and white and colored filters, I'm not too sure on whether it enhances the video or causes confusion.

But once watching the entire video i realised this may have been purposely done in order to strengthen the message being put across about freedom.

Production: Working out a structure

Our music video follows a structure of a change in mood. We begin with a lot of light and is filmed out doors in the alley way and street

And then we move into the interior building to convey a night life mood, this is introduced just after the  second verse.

We've decided to structure our music video in this way to emphasise the emotions of 'heartbreak' going through this song.

Production: More filming

In our feed back from our rough cut, a lot of people agreed there wasn't enough close ups or cut aways so this is what we filmed to add to our base tracks

Research on intended editing paste

Usually the paste of the editing in the music video would depend on the speed of the song, but our song choice is fairly in the middle of being slow but also up beat so the decision would not be obvious.

I looked at fast edited video styles from artists who make similar music to delilah like such as Dot Rotten, yasmin, katy b and many others.

This video by dot rotten stood out to me as it was very intensly edited with a faster paste although the video was not TOO upbeat.

I then compared it to more similar songs with a slower editing pace although the song itself is still fairly upbeat like this by Kyla .

Now when I'm ready to edit my video i am going to take all my research into consideration and might even attempt to combine both styles to get the best of both. The editing paste has a large effect over a music video

What to put into our first shot...

First two shots from Delilah's video

Another first shot from her Video
Our very first shot

Then cuts to this second shot

As you can see our first shots are heavily influenced from delilah's previous music video's of using establishing to introduce one of our location and to make clear the urban genre

Close-ups

As we are introducing our artist through her first video I looked at many other debut artists first video's.

This video is Azealia Banks first official single and in this video we are abused with many extreme close ups and medium close ups as well as normal closeups.

Rough Cut Feedback

Opening Shot For Video

As we are not sure as to what to put as the opening shot before the lyrics start I brainstormed of possible things....

Cut Aways

We could use out of focus cutaways before introducing our artist.

Production: More filming

After looking at our footage and getting feedback from our target audience we thought we needed more close ups and cutaways so during our media lesson we decided to go out and get more cut aways and close ups in order to fill the gaps in our rough cut.

Use of Lighting and Shadows

(need to use photobucket for this one)

Comparisons

Rihanna - Disturbia

Use of cages and connotations of feeling trapped

Our music video resembles a similar dark sinister mood like this video however Rihana's video is slightly more gothic whereas our is quite laid back in that area.

Interesting use of camera

Justin Bieber ft Nicki Minaj  - Beauty and a Beat

This Video by Justin Bieber really caught my attention because throughout the video the artist himself is holding up the camera and the effect it creates makes the video very authentic. I've never seen this being as it not a conventional camera technique for a music video.
